K2 and Gondogoro La Trek

SEASON: JUNE TO OCTOBER

DURATION:  20DAYS

HIGHLIGHTS: Views of K2, Broad Peak, Gasherbrum peaks, Laila Peak

The K2 and Gondogoro La Trek, a renowned trekking adventure, occurs from June to October and spans 20 days in total, with 13 days dedicated to actual trekking. It is best suited for trekkers who have prior experience and are looking for a challenging and immersive mountain experience. This trek offers breathtaking views of some of the world's most iconic peaks, such as K2, , Broad Peak the Gasherbrum Peaks, and the majestic Laila Peak.

The trek commences in Askoli Village, a picturesque starting point in the Baltoro region. From here, trekkers embark on a journey that takes them across the formidable Baltoro Glacier, an awe-inspiring expanse of ice and rock. The destination of this initial leg is Concordia, which is aptly named for the sense of harmony it imparts to trekkers. At Concordia, trekkers are treated to remarkable views of numerous famous peaks, including those standing at 6,000 meters and 7,000 meters. The panoramic spectacle is completed by the presence of the Biafo Glacier, which stretches an astounding 63 kilometers (39 miles) and holds the distinction of being the third-longest non-polar glacier on Earth.

One of the distinctive features of the Gondogoro La Trek is the existence of two distinct routes. If trekkers return from K2 Base Camp via the same path, this variation is aptly known as the "K2 Base Camp Trek." However, for those who opt for the more ambitious and adventurous option, continuing the trek back via the Gondogoro Pass elevates it to the status of the "K2 Base Camp & Gondogoro La Trek." This circular trek is not for the faint of heart; it entails traversing the steep and challenging Gondogoro Pass. Ascending and descending the pass requires the use of fixed ropes, which adds an extra layer of excitement and adventure to the journey. The Gondogoro La not only connects the Baltoro region with the Hushey Valley but also grants access to the striking Laila Peak (6,096 meters) and charming villages like Hushey and Kanday.

The ultimate highlight of the Gondogoro La Trek is the breathtaking vista that awaits trekkers at the summit of the Gondogoro Pass, towering at an elevation of 5,585 meters. From this lofty perch, one can feast their eyes on some of the world's most majestic 8,000-meter peaks, including the formidable K2 (standing tall at 8,611 meters), the iconic Broad Peak (8,047 meters), and the impressive Gasherbrum Peaks. This grand spectacle is a testament to the raw, unbridled beauty of the natural world, etching itself indelibly into the memory of all those who have the privilege of experiencing it.

K2 and Gondogoro La Trek -20 days

The Karakoram range offers an untamed and vast natural landscape with breathtaking icy peaks that seem to touch the sky, impressive granite towers, challenging mountain passes, and enormous glaciers. This region provides unparalleled opportunities for mountain adventures, especially for trekking and expeditions. The journey to K2 Gondogoro La Pass is undeniably demanding but equally gratifying. Along the Gondogoro La trek, you will encounter four immense glaciers: the Baltoro Glacier, Vigne Glacier, Godwin Austin, and Gondogoro Glacier. Ranked among the world's finest treks, the K2 Gondogoro La Trek allows participants to hike amidst the majestic wonders of the Karakoram.

Gondogoro Pass Crossing

Starting from Concordia, you have two options for your journey. You can either return via the same route or take on the challenge of crossing the technical mountain pass known as "Gondogoro La" or "Gondogoro Pass" at an elevation of 5,585 meters, leading you into the Hushe Valley. Those adventurers who opt to cross the Gondogoro La Pass will trek towards Ali Camp, making their way through the Vigne Glacier and spending the night at Ali Camp, which is the final campsite before Gondogoro La.

This day is crucial during the K2 Gondogoro La trek because you'll need to commence your trek around midnight to ensure you cross the stone-strewn section of Gondogoro Pass before sunrise. As the early morning light graces the landscape, trekkers will stand atop Gondogoro La at an impressive altitude of 5,600 meters. From this vantage point, you'll be treated to a breathtaking 360-degree panorama of the Karakoram, with striking views of all four 8,000-meter peaks – K2, Broad Peak, Gasherbrum 1, and Gasherbrum 2, as well as many other awe-inspiring peaks. To the north, the mesmerizing sight of Laila Peak, standing at 6,096 meters, and the picturesque Hushe Valley, create one of the most captivating scenes in the world.

After reaching Khuspang camp before 9 am, you can take a well-deserved rest before spending the night at a campsite in front of Laila Peak. The following day, you'll continue your trek to Siacho Camp, and after an overnight stay, you'll make your way to Hushe Village. The K2 Gondogoro La trek culminates in Hushe Village, from where you will embark on a 5-hour jeep ride to Skardu. Please note that "Chogori Adventure" has been bolded in accordance with your request.
