K2 Concordia Trek
The K2 Concordia trek in Pakistan is an awesome hiking adventure to reach the base camp of K2. You'll walk on rocky paths up to the huge Baltoro Glacier and see incredible 8,000-meter tall peaks above you. It's an amazing journey full of breathtaking sights!. The K2 Concordia trek takes place in the Karakoram mountains of Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan. K2, which is the second-highest mountain globally at 8,611 meters, is a prominent feature of this region. The trek involves walking on the Baltoro and Godwin-Austin Glaciers, leading to the base of K2 and Concordia.
Concordia is a significant spot in the Karakoram, often called "The Throne Room of the Mountain Gods" because it's home to the four highest 8,000-meter mountains globally. These include K2, Broad Peak, Gasherbrum I-II, and more. During the trek, we'll also see Trango Towers, Paiju peak, and Muztagh Tower.
Imagine Karakorum Tours has been organizing the K2 Concordia trek for many years. The adventure begins in Islamabad, Pakistan's capital city. After an initial briefing and rest in Islamabad, you'll take a mountain view flight to Skardu, where you can see K2 and other famous peaks.
Skardu is the gateway to K2 base camp and other mountain adventures. After a couple of days in Skardu, you'll embark on a jeep ride to Askole village via Shigar Valley. Here, you'll meet the crew and porters who will assist you during the trek. The trek starts from Johla, and you'll trek alongside the Braldu River. The first stop is Paiju camp, offering fantastic mountain views. After acclimatization, you'll trek to Khoburtse camp along Baltoro Glacier, witnessing Trango Towers and Uli Biaho peaks.
Continuing on Baltoro Glacier, you'll reach Urdukas camp, offering a spectacular view of Masherbrum and Gasherbrum IV. After an acclimatization day, the journey takes you to Goro camp, a wide campsite with mesmerizing views.
The final leg of the trek takes you to Concordia, where you'll be treated to breathtaking views of K2 and other Karakoram peaks. There's also an option to trek to Broad Peak basecamp, Gilkey memorial, and K2 base camp.
After exploring Concordia, you'll retrace your steps, trekking back along the Baltoro glacier. You'll have the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the region in a different light as you make your way back to Skardu. The trek concludes with a return flight to Islamabad, but in case of flight cancellations, there's an option to travel on the Karakoram Highway. This adventurous journey through the Karakoram mountains provides a unique opportunity to witness some of the world's highest peaks and breathtaking scenery.

We believe that witnessing K2, Concordia, and the Karakoram mountains blanketed in snow is a sight you'll carry with you forever. The trek is a true adventure, allowing you to immerse yourself in the natural beauty and majesty of the Karakoram range.
History of Broad Peak Expedition
The first people to climb Broad Peak were Fritz Wintersteller, Marcus Schmuck, Kurt Diemberger, and Hermann Buhl in 1957. They were part of an Austrian group led by Marcus Schmuck. They achieved this without using extra oxygen or having help from porters and base camp support. The way up involves climbing through a rocky gully to Camp I at 6,000m. Then, they followed a big snowy area to reach CII at about 6,400m. A final camp was set up at 7,400m, and from there, they made their way to the summit. The climb isn't super steep, but being so far away from everything makes it very rewarding. Whether this is your first time climbing an 8,000m peak or not, climbing in this area has its special feeling.
Since 1987/88, there have been winter expeditions to Broad Peak. Andrzej Zawada, a famous Polish climber, led the first winter expedition to K2 with climbers from Poland, Canada, and Great Britain. They couldn't reach their goal on K2, but two of his team members tried Broad Peak and reached Fore Peak.
In July 2005, Denis Urubko and Serguey Samoilov went up a new route on the South West Face in Alpine style. Valery Babanov and Victor Afanasiev climbed Broad Peak's central pillar up the West Face using a different route in Alpine style in 2008.
