Skardu Tour Packages Itinerary

The journey from Islamabad to Skardu kicks off with a roughly 9-hour drive covering a distance of around 367.5 kilometers. The preferred route typically involves taking the Hazara Motorway, which offers a smooth and relatively efficient passage through picturesque landscapes. However, if Babusar Top is inaccessible due to heavy snowfall or weather conditions, an alternate route through Behsam comes into play. Although longer, this route offers its own unique charm and scenic vistas. Travelers might traverse through valleys and winding roads, passing by local villages, terraced fields, and small towns, which present an authentic glimpse into the lifestyle and culture of the region. Despite being a longer route, it still promises captivating views and an enriching journey before arriving at the stunning destination of Skardu.

Chilas city, often utilized as an overnight stop on the way to Skardu, is nestled along the banks of the mighty Indus River. While the town itself might not offer a multitude of tourist attractions, its striking scenery and proximity to the Indus River provide a serene ambiance. The area's rugged terrain, marked by barren hills and cliffs, creates a unique and raw atmosphere that might captivate travelers, especially when spending a night under the vast, starry skies. Despite its limited tourist amenities, Chilas offers an opportunity for a peaceful evening, allowing visitors to unwind and appreciate the simple yet stark beauty of the surroundings, with the Indus River flowing by, setting the backdrop for a tranquil overnight stay.

Upon arriving in Skardu, the first day of your tour promises a myriad of captivating activities to explore. Kharmang Valley, settled within the attractive Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan, is a mesmerizing destination renowned for its captivating landscapes and cultural heritage. This hidden gem boasts lush orchards, meandering rivers, and the stunning Manthokha Waterfall, adding to its allure. Beyond its natural splendor, the valley is steeped in cultural richness, inviting travelers to explore the heritage of the Balti people, discover ancient relics, and embark on thrilling treks. Kharmang Valley, with its blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage, stands as a captivating retreat, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in its tranquility and create unforgettable memories amidst its enchanting landscapes.

On this day of the Skardu tour, we'll journey to Khaplu Valley, a stunning landscape featuring towering peaks, crystal-clear waters, and cascading waterfalls. Khaplu serves as the focal point of the district, and its hospitable inhabitants have welcomed travelers for centuries. Nestled in the heart of Shigar town and watered by the Shigar River, this valley stretches approximately 170 km from Skardu to Askole. Despite its remote and isolated nature, the valley is dotted with multiple villages. On its far edge lies Askole, a settlement set apart from the mountains.

Moreover, the valley is fed by a stream originating from the nearby Indus River. Renowned among adventure enthusiasts, it attracts trekkers, hikers, and mountaineers, despite the challenging conditions. Finally, the valley serves as a gateway to the Karakoram mountains, home to the world's highest peak, K2. Notable attractions during a Shigar tour include Shigar Fort, Shigar Polo Ground, Hashopi Garden, and the renowned Cold Desert.

Deosai, a dreamland for adventure and nature enthusiasts on the Skardu tour, is a place of mystique and natural wonder. Its name, "Deosai," meaning "The Land of the Giants," is rooted in ancient tales of giants haunting this vast expanse.

The weather in Deosai is capricious, with sudden summer snowfalls, as sunlight and clouds engage in a playful dance. Abundant wildlife once made it an impassable realm, untouched by human habitation. Even today, icy winds, thunderstorms, and wildlife presence deter permanent settlement, leaving Deosai mostly uninhabited.

For centuries, nomads from Kashmir have traversed the Deosai plains with their herds, embracing this timeless path. The silence here is profound, spanning centuries, so profound that one can hear their own heartbeat unless interrupted by a marmot's cheerful whistle.

Situated on the border between the Karakoram and the western Himalayas, Deosai consistently rests at over 4,000 meters above sea level. Snow blankets it for eight months, while the rest of the year, this 3,000-square-kilometer plateau blossoms with a myriad of vibrant flowers, yet not a single tree graces its landscape. Deosai is a summer wonder, a highlight of Skardu tours during this season. Keep in mind that winter, autumn, or spring visits to Skardu exclude Deosai, as it remains snow-covered, revealing its true splendor only in the summertime.

Moreover, the valley offers an array of activities for visitors, including fishing and the opportunity to savor a diverse range of fruits such as apricots, grapes, and apples, among others.
