Day 1: Islamabad to Chilas
The journey from Islamabad to Skardu kicks off with a roughly 9-hour drive covering a distance of around 367.5 kilometers. A visit here offers a glimpse into the region's rich cultural heritage, allowing travelers to delve into the past while marveling at the breathtaking vistas stretching far and wide.
For a serene encounter with nature's beauty, Shangrila Lake and Upper Kachora Lake stand as idyllic destinations. Shangrila Lake, often referred to as "Heaven on Earth," captivates with its crystal-clear waters set against the backdrop of towering mountains. Meanwhile, Upper Kachora Lake enchants visitors with its tranquil ambiance, surrounded by alpine forests and offering opportunities for boating or simply soaking in the tranquility.
Sadpara Lake is yet another gem in Skardu's crown. Encircled by majestic peaks, this beautiful lake reflects the beauty of its surroundings, inviting travelers to bask in its serenity and indulge in activities like boating or simply admiring the stunning views.
Manthal Village, renowned for its terraced fields and scenic landscapes, presents an authentic rural experience. Here, visitors can witness local life, observe traditional farming practices, and engage with the warm and welcoming locals, offering an immersive cultural encounter amidst the beauty of Skardu's natural terrain. These attractions collectively offer a diverse range of experiences, allowing travelers to immerse themselves in the rich culture, breathtaking landscapes, and tranquil beauty of Skardu.

Day 6: Shigar Valley
Nestled in the heart of Shigar town and watered by the Shigar River, this valley stretches approximately 170 km from Skardu to Askole. Despite its remote and isolated nature, the valley is dotted with multiple villages. On its far edge lies Askole, a settlement set apart from the mountains.
Moreover, the valley is fed by a stream originating from the nearby Indus River. Renowned among adventure enthusiasts, it attracts trekkers, hikers, and mountaineers, despite the challenging conditions. Finally, the valley serves as a gateway to the Karakoram mountains, home to the world's highest peak, K2. Notable attractions during a Shigar tour include Shigar Fort, Shigar Polo Ground, Hashopi Garden, and the renowned Cold Desert.
Day 7: Deosai
Deosai, a dreamland for adventure and nature enthusiasts on the Skardu tour, is a place of mystique and natural wonder. Its name, "Deosai," meaning "The Land of the Giants," is rooted in ancient tales of giants haunting this vast expanse.
The weather in Deosai is capricious, with sudden summer snowfalls, as sunlight and clouds engage in a playful dance. Abundant wildlife once made it an impassable realm, untouched by human habitation. Even today, icy winds, thunderstorms, and wildlife presence deter permanent settlement, leaving Deosai mostly uninhabited.
For centuries, nomads from Kashmir have traversed the Deosai plains with their herds, embracing this timeless path. The silence here is profound, spanning centuries, so profound that one can hear their own heartbeat unless interrupted by a marmot's cheerful whistle.
Situated on the border between the Karakoram and the western Himalayas, Deosai consistently rests at over 4,000 meters above sea level. Snow blankets it for eight months, while the rest of the year, this 3,000-square-kilometer plateau blossoms with a myriad of vibrant flowers, yet not a single tree graces its landscape. Deosai is a summer wonder, a highlight of Skardu tours during this season. Keep in mind that winter, autumn, or spring visits to Skardu exclude Deosai, as it remains snow-covered, revealing its true splendor only in the summertime.
Day 8: Basho Valley
Basho Valley in Skardu, located within the Gilgit Baltistan region and Roundu Division of Skardu District, is a cherished destination for tourists exploring Skardu. This picturesque valley is renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty, awe-inspiring snow-capped mountains, and its unspoiled, rustic charm. Basho Meadow stands out as a remarkable spot for both visiting and camping, offering visitors a truly splendid experience.
What makes Basho Valley truly unique is its exceptional vantage point, allowing you to witness two of the world's most prominent mountain ranges.
