Overview
The Thallay La Trek is one of the most beautiful and lesser-known trekking adventures in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. Located in the spectacular Karakoram region, the trek connects the Thallay Valley and Khaplu side with Shigar Valley near Skardu, crossing the impressive Thallay La Pass at approximately 4,572 meters (15,000 feet).
Unlike some of Pakistan’s more demanding glacier-based expeditions, the Thallay La route is generally a non-technical high-altitude trek. There is no regular glacier crossing or technical climbing involved, but trekkers still need good fitness, proper acclimatization and suitable equipment because the route reaches more than 4,500 meters.
This adventure takes you to a region with stunning mountain views, vibrant cities, colorful markets, and warm hospitality. Our team has been organizing trips here for over 40 years, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience. On this private tour, you’ll explore the mountainous northeast region of Pakistan known as Baltistan. You’ll trek for four days, surrounded by breathtaking Karakoram Mountain scenery, and stay in two fabulous hotels, Shigar Fort and Khaplu Palace.
Our journey begins in Islamabad, the green capital city. We’ll meet you at the airport, provide a briefing on the trek, and spend the night in Islamabad. The next day, we’ll take a scenic flight to Skardu, where you can see the majestic Himalayan and Karakoram mountains, including K2, Broad Peak, and Nanga Parbat if the weather is clear. We’ll stay in Skardu, the capital of ancient Baltistan, and explore Sadpara Lake, Kharpocho Fort, and the local market.
We are offering four fixed departure dates for the Thalle La Trek in June, July, and August 2023. This trek is relatively easy and doesn’t require mountaineering skills. We believe that the Karakoram Mountains of Baltistan and its friendly people will create lasting memories for you.
Discover the breathtaking beauty of Thallay La Trek, an off-the-beaten-path gem in the Himalayas, offering pristine landscapes and a soul-refreshing journey.
